    Ah, the holidays are over

We’ve had a busy few months and, once again, I’ve let this blog behind in the dust.  I actually really struggle all the time with how to best document our lives as I really truly do see this blog like a journal and I love looking back at it…yet, it’s so hard to keep up.  I sometimes toy around with seeing if I can somehow embed some other microblogging site into here like tumblr or twitter, but I’m not a fan of it being something randomly off in the sidebar…and I just haven’t taken the time to see what I can do to actually embed it into posts.  I could…

    Busy with two

Oh man, I have really neglected this blog.  I actually started a draft a few weeks ago and then lost it…and while I’m frequently on my laptop, it’s usually while nursing and with just one hand available…not optimal blog writing conditions.  Here are some updates – mainly on the kids front: Andrew’s gaining weight We’ve been on breastmilk only since he was a month.  By the time he was 2 months, he was 8lb 7.5oz.  Still a small baby (I think he’s officially in the .5-1%) but he’s gaining weight appropriately per the curve according to the pediatrician.  He’s nearly 3 months now and I don’t know how much he…

How did it become December already?

Fall felt like it was just here…but with a few cold wet weeks, it is now winter.  I’m literally sitting in my office wearing a huge down parka coat sipping chai. The past few weeks have been a blur between going off to Vegas once again for Thanksgiving and then Matt’s parents visiting the following weekend.  It’s always nice to have an opportunity to see family, and for Natalie to hang out with them all. We were in Vegas for a week and, once again, it was mostly chill time and eating Chinese food.  We hit the strip only twice—once to go to Circus Circus for Natalie and the second…

Summer’s about over and so is travel

Temperatures have cooled back down to the 60’s this week after having a few weeks of pretty hot temperatures (i.e. 80’s, 90’s).  Yep, I think summer’s over.  Just a blink—it came and went…and mostly came while we were out of town. For the first part of August when all the hot temperatures hit Seattle, we were out of town.  For the first weekend, we headed to Tahoe for Ricky and Corinne’s wedding at Squaw Valley.  Matt was a groomsmen so he was busy with wedding party activities initially…so I had some fun 1:1 time with Natalie.  The best was taking the tram up to high camp (elevation = 8200’!) where…

    Travel after 2 yrs

We flew to Las Vegas over the 4th of July weekend to visit my parents and to do a bit of chillaxin.  For us, it was the first time flying with Natalie after she turned 2, which meant 2 things really: 1. She is no longer a lap child and flying as a family is now getting ridiculously expensive since she can’t fly free anymore, and 2. we flew with a convertible car seat for the first time.  Now, some people will just check the car seat in but we decided to bring it with us on the plane since Natalie is usually quite comfortable in the car seat.  To…

    Productive morning–stalking + checking in

Woke up this morning to help another mommy friend stalk cloth diapers.  “Stalk cloth diapers?! What in the world is that?”  I mentioned in my last post that there are certain diaper brands that are limited in stock but super popular.  As a result, they have weekly or biweekly or daily stockings at specific times of the day – when that happens, all these crazed hippy mommies (like me!) stand at their computer hitting F5 over and over at the chance to tap “add to cart” for the diaper of their choice before it sells out…and these diapers usually will sell FAST.  It’s really insane.  Anyhow, this process is called…

    A toddler in Hong Kong

Bringing Natalie to Hong Kong was an awesome experience. Not only did she get to meet a ton of relatives who just ooo’d and aaaah’d all over her, but she got to eat really great food (can we say fresh steamed fish everyday?). Her usual diet of chicken nuggets or fish sticks from home was no where to be found the whole time we were there. I had only read a little bit about having a toddler in Hong Kong before visiting. It was overall a really pleasant experience and I think it’s a lot of fun to bring a toddler to Hong Kong. Here are some of my notes/tips/advice/observations:…

Made it to Hong Kong in one piece!

I’m writing this from Hong Kong right now and am happy to report that our trip over was a lot easier than we expected. At first, I thought it was going to be hellish as Natalie would NOT sleep and had this sudden burst of night-time-owl energy. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise and made her transition to Hong Kong time a cinch. Our flight left Seattle at 11pm to go to Vancouver. We thought for sure that she’d fall asleep on the way to the airport as it was past her bedtime and she sleeps in the car easily….but nope. Then on the airplane, she was…

    Travel travel travel

The last few weeks has been a crazy amount of travel for me– Oct 29 — Los Angeles Nov 3 — San Francisco Nov 10 — San Diego Nov 13 — Boston I got a really great opportunity to attend a number of events that are part of the Windows Phone Inner Circle night events, helping to demo new phones with Windows Phone 7.5 running on it. These are typically PR/Marketing events but they reached out to the engineering team to see if anyone wanted to participate. I jumped at the opportunity and am so happy that I got the chance to experience these events. We’ve gotten some great feedback…

    I promise to update more

OK, I’m starting to push out updates only once a month now. Ugh. I’m going to work on updating more frequently. As usual, lots of Natalie updates. Fun things to note with her in this last month: She walks around a lot….and very fast. She’s very comfortable with the stairs now — going up and down.  She loves to say “up!” as she goes up the stairs She has a “professor walk” where she likes to walk holding her hands behind her back — it cracks us up Eating is always an experiment — she throws food and waves her arms all over the place sometimes.  She LOVES the baby-puree-style…
