    Thoughts on last night’s Oscars

    I love the Oscars. I look forward to it every year.  Unfortunately, Matt and I don’t get out to see as many movies as we would like now with a child (cost of movies plus dinner plus parking plus babysitting makes for an expensive evening!).  We normally would have seen every single Best Picture nominee…now we are lucky if we’ve seen half. Anyway, I wanted to jot down some quick thoughts on last night’s Oscars: Seth MacFarlane was okay.  I thought he had a lot of good one liners…but some jokes obviously died from the beginning and I appreciated he recognized that.  I didn’t realize he was such a good…

    How did it become December already?

    Fall felt like it was just here…but with a few cold wet weeks, it is now winter.  I’m literally sitting in my office wearing a huge down parka coat sipping chai. The past few weeks have been a blur between going off to Vegas once again for Thanksgiving and then Matt’s parents visiting the following weekend.  It’s always nice to have an opportunity to see family, and for Natalie to hang out with them all.     october random updates

    Windows Phone 8 ships! We finally RTM’d and had our ship party at work which involved derby car races, Sir Mix-a-lot and a last minute flash mob to Gangnam Style (Natalie’s FAVORITE song right now) organized by yours truly.  I will never forget giving a private dance lesson to my VP on how to dance like a horse to Gangnam style, hilarious.  I dressed our team up to be the entire gang of Avengers which was also quite fun – the whole thing took up a ton of time but c’est la vie right?     Back in the swing of things

    I got to take a really nice break from work — there was a reorg shortly before I returned from maternity leave; as a result, teams were spread out all over the place.  On top of that, facilities wanted to “refresh” our offices by putting in new carpeting and painting one wall of every office with some sort of accent color.  So, management gave everyone from 12/17/10 at 5pm to 1/5/11 at 8am off!  The week after our parents all left, the nanny was still working and I still had that time off…so Matt and I had a series of “date afternoons”, mostly consisting of getting lunch somewhere and then…
