Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays/Happy Hannukah/Merry Christmas everyone! We are spending this year here in Seattle with both sets of parents and my brother visiting. It’s probably the first time in a l-o-o-ong time that I can remember where I haven’t actually *traveled* for Christmas. It’s been a very relaxing holiday so far with lots of hands willing to play with Natalie. Since everyone is here, we decided to also go all traditional and decorate the house — tree, mantle, front door wreath, even a garland for the stairs. It’s pretty awesome since I haven’t had decorations like this since I was in elementary school (since we have typically gone to Hong Kong)…and…

Five months of cloth diapering
I haven’t written about cloth diapering in awhile—but rest assure, we’re still cloth diapering! I thought I’d share some of my thoughts/tips/advice on cloth diapering for those of you that are interested…and this is based solely on 5 months of doing this. For some background: we cloth diaper full-time even for overnight. I’ve also traveled with it (to Las Vegas) and continue to do so when I’m out and about for the day. I haven’t used a single disposable since August–and the closest are a few GroVia Biosoakers that I used when flying to Vegas just to minimize the number of cloth diapers I needed to carry onboard with me. …

7 months of sleeping
I was recently inspired by this post on Offbeat Mama to write my own post about Natalie’s sleep. That post was written by someone who uses the same baby tracking website as I do, Trixie Tracker, for managing sleep, nursing, etc.. schedules. Unlike me, this person used it meticulously from day 1 so it’s fascinating to a screenshot of her baby’s sleep schedule from Week 1 to Age 1. (here’s a link to the full chart which has been made public) I think Matt and I are lucky. Really lucky. Before having a baby, you hear all these stories about losing sleep. And yes, you’ll definitely lose sleep…it’s just a matter…

In this last month….
Man, my blog posts are just turning into monthly posts..resulting in these long posts. Ack. Anyway, in this last month… Natalie’s hair is getting longer, to the point where it’s getting in her eyes. Know what means? Hair accessories! Mommy’s having fun putting her hair up all the time  We are just having a hoot hanging out with Natalie now–we love enjoying our meals together and having her hang out with us. Here’s a great image from a typical Sunday morning breakfast The most exciting thing in this last month was traveling to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving so Natalie could meet a bunch of extended relatives on my side. …

Ferberizing
We’ve been Ferberizing. I’ll come out and say it. What is that? It refers to a method by a certain Dr. Ferber for training your child to fall asleep on their own. Some people use it for putting their child to sleep, others use it for wakeups in the middle of the night. It can certainly be used for both and theoretically does work for both. The basic idea is to put your child to bed awake but drowsy. They will probably initially cry but then after a certain amount of time, they will fall asleep on their own. If they do wake up in the middle of the night…

Natalie dislikes rice cereal
I may’ve mentioned that Natalie loves eating her solid foods…..except for rice cereal. It tastes like cardboard and she knows it! I have much to update on recent weeks…will update soon.
