    Newborn cloth diapering

Last week, I packed up the set of newborn cloth diapers that I had rented and sent them back.  Now that he can fit into most of the one size diapers we have, I don’t need them anymore.  (BTW, I went through Earthy Crunchy Mama — highly recommend the program as you can select the types of diapers you want to rent, and the customer service was fantastic!)  Andrew is 3.5 months and we only really started the cloth diapers when he was about a month old, mainly because he was such a tiny guy that he could barely fit into the diapers I had (plus, we were just exhausted…

    october random updates

Windows Phone 8 ships! We finally RTM’d and had our ship party at work which involved derby car races, Sir Mix-a-lot and a last minute flash mob to Gangnam Style (Natalie’s FAVORITE song right now) organized by yours truly.  I will never forget giving a private dance lesson to my VP on how to dance like a horse to Gangnam style, hilarious.  I dressed our team up to be the entire gang of Avengers which was also quite fun – the whole thing took up a ton of time but c’est la vie right? Natalie’s obsessions I didn’t want to forget the things that Natalie’s really into now, so here…

    Productive morning–stalking + checking in

Woke up this morning to help another mommy friend stalk cloth diapers.  “Stalk cloth diapers?! What in the world is that?”  I mentioned in my last post that there are certain diaper brands that are limited in stock but super popular.  As a result, they have weekly or biweekly or daily stockings at specific times of the day – when that happens, all these crazed hippy mommies (like me!) stand at their computer hitting F5 over and over at the chance to tap “add to cart” for the diaper of their choice before it sells out…and these diapers usually will sell FAST.  It’s really insane.  Anyhow, this process is called…

    My quarterly update…

…I kid I kid….no, but really, at the rate I’ve been blogging lately, it might as well be a quarterly update.  This is only the 6th blog post in all of 2012 and it’s already half way through the year.  Ugh.  And the thought of writing a post every time weighs heavily on me as so much happens (with Natalie at least) that I want to write..so it’s just daunting.  Naturally, the most interesting stuff in our lives is Natalie, so here goes an update for the last (gulp) 4 months…. Lil’ Kickers In March, Natalie started taking Lil’ Kickers classes with Matt and she totally loves it.  This is…

    Cloth diapering for weekend getaways

We just got back from a fun weekend outing with friends in Walla Walla (more on that later) but I thought I’d take the time to talk about cloth diapering for weekend getaways. Yes, it’s possible! Sure, disposables would be easy and if it was trip that involved flying somewhere, it would reduce the amount of luggage…but for a trip that’s just a car drive away, it can be done. The less I need to buy diapers, the happier I am. We left around 1pm on Friday and got back Sunday evening. This is what I brought with me: – 3 medium wetbags – 20 cloth diapers (a few were…

    Fluffy delivery is here!

I now finally have all of my initial cloth diapers!  Here’s a picture: I’m so excited — now I can get started on doing some major prewashing and then hopefully start putting them into use tomorrow!  Oh, and why a “fluffy” delivery?  Apparently, in the cloth diapering community, people often refer to their cloth diapers as “fluff”—because of the bulk, it makes baby butts look all fluffy!  (at least that’s my interpretation)
